November Meeting 11/19/09

Readers!

The fun is coming...the fun is almost here! Our November meeting will be packed with goodness for you our treasured readers. Right after school THIS THURSDAY -- NOVEMBER 19th -- in the library we will be making our Club Buttons...eating snacks and drinking wonderful hot chocolate...meeting our new officer...and hearing about some favorite books. Oh...and if you're reading this Blog post carefully....and you read it before our meeting Thursday...you will find this months secrete word(s) in honor of Thanksgiving....the word(s) of the month are....Turkey Bowl. Tell Mrs. Dillon or Mrs. Stanton the secret word (BEFORE THE MEETING) and get a TREAT!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Readers' Club has a new Treasurer!

Many of you may know that our elected treasurer for this year was unable to fulfill her term. Your officers met last week and by unanimous decision have appointed RC member
Emily Wilkinson to take the office for the rest of this year.

We will be welcoming her officially at our next meeting...which is...THURSDAY, November 19th, right after school in the library!

National Novel Writing Month

Hey readers! As many of you already know, November is National Novel Writing Month. Participants have only 30 days to crank out a 50,000 word novel, and I hope you are up to the challenge! For those of you who would like to attempt this feat, help is at hand at the Washougal Library. On November 7th and 28, the Washougal Library will be open from 6-midnight to help all of you writers get working on your novels. Complimentary brain food and beverages will be provided. Hope to see you there!

It's time once again for the Mock Printz Event. ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

Every year the Fort Vancouver Library sponsors this opportunity for teens, teachers and librarians to get together and talk about which book they think deserves to win the coveted Michael L. Printz award.

Here's how to participate......Mrs. Dillon can help you get signed up!

  • Read as many of the ten books listed below (you don't have to read them all)
