Thursday's Meeting

Don't miss the meeting after school this Thursday, April 23! Don't miss your chance to say the secret word and get a yummy prize!!!! Tell Mrs. Stanton or Mrs. Dillon the secret word....oh....I haven't told you yet? Hmmmm.....lets see.....I think it will be a phrase this time.....say "magic eight ball" and win!

Nominations, The Field Trip, and The Constitution!

The nominations for the readers' club officer seats will begin in the next meeting on April 23rd! There will be three ways you can nominate! You can nominate someone from the floor during the meeting. There will also be forms that you will be able to get from Mrs. Stanton and Mrs. Dillon, just fill the form out and return it to either of them any time during the week. The last way you can nominate someone is to send an e-mail to "whsreaders@washougal.k12.wa.us" without the quotes!

We will also be holding a vote on the new language for the Readers' Club constitution. Everyone at the meeting will have a vote, so make it count, people! You can find the new language if you just scroll down a bit, it's posted below.

And, we can't forget, the thing that's on every members mind...The Powell's trip! We will be handing out permission slips at this meeting! If you can't make it make sure to get one from Mrs Stanton or Mrs Dillon! And we will be adding more books to the shopping list, so if there are any books you want to see in the library, make sure you let us know. Last, but not least, we will be asking you for some fundraising ideas! If you have any, speak up!

FIELD TRIP DATE CHANGE!!

We are going to Powells on Friday, May 1st!

If you have any questions or concerns about this change stop by the library and tell Mrs. Dillon or Mrs. Stanton about "The Pearl". I'm quite sure that might be considered the new secret word, but only those who stop by and chat with us will find out.

NEW CONSTITUTION LANGUAGE

Hello Readers!

We have a LOT going on this month! We will have a SHORT general meeting THIS THURSDAY, April 16, right after school in the library. We will be passing out information about our Powells field trip, the upcoming election and the club's budget status.

Please read the NEW ELECTION LANGUAGE below. You will be voting on it's addition to your constitution at our April 23 meeting!

NEW ELECTION LANGUAGE

Article III: Government

Section VI: Elections

a. Elections for new officers will take place prior to the end of the second
semester each school year.

b. Nominations for officer candidates will be open for one (1) week.

a. Nominations may be submitted;
i. from the floor at a recognized general meeting
ii. via the club’s e-mail (www.whsreaders@washougal.k12.wa.us)
iii. by written note to one of the club’s advisors.

c. Candidates for election will be formally introduced at the next general
meeting after the close of nominations.

d. Two (2) weeks after the Candidates have been introduced, elections will be
held at a general meeting.

e. The vote will be by paper ballot.

Can you believe it, there are only 11 more weeks of school left before Summer break! We have a lot going on with our club this month. Here's a summary of what's coming up:

April 9 -- Officers Meet -- in the library right after school.

April 16 -- Club Meeting -- SHORT MEETING -- Handouts for upcoming Field Trip and Elections.

April 23 -- Club Meeting -- Nominations open for next year's officers. Readers' Club constitution updates. Permission slips for Powell's Field Trip passed out.
