Readers' Club Members -- Check this out!
Please encourage students whose lives have been touched by books (hopefully all of your students!) to enter the Center for the Book’s Letters About Literature contest. Not only does the contest encourage students to reflect on good literature they have read and write about it, but there are lots of prizes on the state and national level for students. In addition, if a student from your school is a winner at the national level, your library is eligible for a Reading Promotion Grant of $10,000!
Who can apply?
o Students in grades 4-12 may enter. The three levels of competition are:
o Level I – Grades 4-6
o Level II – Grades 7 & 8
o Level III – Grades 9-12
o Students in public and private schools may enter as well as homeschoolers.
o An individual student may enter or a whole class. If a class enters, each student must select a book that has had a personal impact on her/his life.
How do students apply?
o Write a letter to an author, living or deceased, stating how that author’s work has impacted the student.
o Attach an entry coupon with all the necessary information completed.
o Mail the letter and the coupon together.
o Details and the entry coupon are available online at www.lib.az.us/azbook/images/pdf/AZGuidelines.pdf.
What is the entry deadline?
