Teen Read Week Activities

Hello Readers'

All next week, October 19-23rd is TEEN READ WEEK! You may have already received information at school, or seen the fliers up around school, or had a classroom visit from Mrs. Dillon, but NOW (on your very own Readers' Club blog) you will get the "inside scoop" on next weeks fun!

1st--MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP FOR EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO DO! All sign up sheets are in the library.

Insider Information--

Monday--Oct.19--"Get Real Get Reading" starts and goes all week.
This is a game invented by Mrs. Dillon and is great because all you have to do is "get caught reading" by anyone who has the drawing tickets. They give you a ticket and you bring it to the library and drop in in the drawing box.....Readers'....Mrs. Dillon has been going out into the community to get prizes.....OMG....SHE HAS GOT THE BEST STUFF EVER!!!!!!!!

Monday--Oct. 19--"Twist your Reality Writing Workshop"
I know a LOT of you love to write as well as read...this workshop is being conducted by Ms. Jacqueline Stanton (yes....Mr. & Mrs. Stanton's daughter). She is a writer herself and is currently working on her first novel. If you want to hang out with other writers and play with changing reality with your words....sign up in the library!

Tuesday--Oct.20--"Experience Alternate Realities"
Yes....this is all about GHOSTS! Mr. Taylor (our very own WHS security guard) is a ghost hunter. He's got PICTURES! No Kidding!!!! Mrs. Stanton has even been on a couple of "hunts" with him and will be happy to tell you about what they found! If you have ever been curious...or seen a ghost yourself....sign up! Event takes place during Panther Time.

Wednesday--Oct.21--"Beyond the Human Experience"
ROBOTS.....who can argue with the fascination of making something that moves the way you have designed it. Check out the Robotics Team during lunch in the library!

Thursday--Oct.22--"Ellen Hopkins Author Visit"
THIS IS SO HUGE I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU!!!! If you haven't already checked out some of her books, you can see pictures of the covers on your very own blog! Ms. Hopkins will speak in the Auditorium starting at aprox. 1:00 p.m.

Thursday--Oct.22--"WHS Readers Club"
YES THAT'S US! This is our regular meeting for the month of October. Right after school in the library we will be making Duct Tape Wallets and having treats and talking about other upcoming events...yes...there will be hot chocolate....YUMMY!

Friday--Oct.23--"R2D2 Demo & Photo-Op"
If you have never seen Mr. Boothby's R2D2 robot...you have missed something GREAT. I mean this is movie worthy....the real deal....cooler than cool....AND you can get your PICTURE taken with this amazing FAMOUS robot! Don't miss this! Come to the library during your choice time or lunch time!
